Feature Requests – Notewise

Hello Notewise Team,
I would like to submit the following feature requests. I use Notewise extensively for handwriting, studying, and reading PDFs, and I believe these improvements would make the handwriting experience significantly faster and more convenient.
1. Automatic Highlighter Straightening
Please add an option that automatically straightens a highlighter stroke when the user draws it nearly straight.
The behavior should distinguish between straight and curved strokes:
• If the stroke is intended to be straight, automatically straighten it.
• If the stroke is clearly curved, keep its original shape.
• The feature should work without requiring the user to keep pressing after finishing the stroke.
• Users should be able to enable or disable this behavior in the settings.
This would make highlighting text in PDFs and handwritten notes much faster and cleaner.
2. Highlighter Always Behind Ink
Please add an option to automatically place highlighter strokes behind handwritten ink and text.
Currently, a highlighter can appear above handwriting and partially cover the text, requiring the user to manually change the layer order.
An option such as “Always place highlighter behind ink” would ensure that handwriting remains clearly visible while highlighting.
Ideally, this should work automatically whenever the highlighter is used.
3. Sticky Notes in Reading Mode
Please allow Sticky Notes to be fully used while remaining in Reading Mode.
Users should be able to:
• Create a new Sticky Note.
• Open an existing Sticky Note.
• Edit its contents.
• Close the Sticky Note.
All of this should be possible without requiring the user to switch out of Reading Mode.
This would be especially useful when reading and annotating PDFs because users could quickly add notes without changing modes.
4. More Eraser Size Options
Please add more customizable eraser sizes.
It would be useful to have several different eraser sizes that users can customize and save as Favorites, allowing them to quickly switch between commonly used sizes.
For example, users could save a small eraser for detailed corrections and a larger eraser for removing larger sections of handwriting.
5. More Pen Favorites
Please increase the number of pen thickness/style presets that can be saved in Favorites.
Users often need multiple pen configurations for:
• Normal handwriting
• Headings
• Subheadings
• Annotations
• Diagrams
• Different colors and thicknesses
Having more customizable Favorites would make switching between frequently used pen configurations much faster.
6. Samsung Notes-Style Radial Pen Menu
Please consider adding a radial pen settings menu similar to the one available in Samsung Notes.
When the currently selected pen or highlighter tool is tapped again, a circular radial menu should appear around the selected tool, allowing the user to quickly access and change pen settings without opening a separate settings panel.
The interaction could work similarly to Samsung Notes:
• The currently selected pen/highlighter is displayed prominently in the center of the radial menu.
• Related pen controls are arranged around it in a compact circular layout.
• The user can quickly change the pen/highlighter type.
• The user can change the pen thickness.
• The user can select a color.
• Frequently used or favorite colors could be displayed for quick access.
• Favorite pen presets could also be accessible from the radial interface.
• Useful actions such as Undo/Redo could potentially be included where appropriate.
The radial menu should appear directly from the active pen tool and disappear after the user makes a selection, allowing them to immediately continue writing.
The menu should also dynamically reflect the currently selected pen, thickness, and color.
The goal is not simply to have a circular toolbar, but to provide a compact radial pen-control experience similar to Samsung Notes, where the selected pen is at the center and the available controls surround it.
I have attached a screenshot showing the Samsung Notes interface I am referring to.
7. Better Multi-Page Selection
Please improve multi-page selection with a Gallery-style selection system.
For example:
• Long-press a page thumbnail to enter selection mode.
• Continue holding and drag across multiple consecutive page thumbnails.
• All pages that the user passes over become selected.
• The user can then move, delete, export, duplicate, or perform other actions on the selected pages.
The interaction could work similarly to selecting multiple photos or files in Samsung Gallery.
This would be much faster than selecting pages individually, especially when working with large documents.
8. Per-Note AI Controls
Please add controls that allow users to decide whether AI processing should be enabled for each individual note.
Possible options could be:
• AI Enabled
• AI Disabled
• Ask Every Time
There should also be a per-note option such as:
“Exclude this note from AI”
This would give users greater control over which notes are processed by AI and could also prevent unnecessary AI processing for notes where AI features are not needed.
9. Infinite Whiteboard / Infinite Canvas
Please add an infinite whiteboard or infinite canvas.
The canvas should not be restricted by fixed page boundaries. Users should be able to write, draw, brainstorm, create mind maps, and make diagrams freely in any direction.
The canvas could automatically expand as the user moves or writes further toward any edge.
Ideally, the canvas would provide:
• Unlimited horizontal space.
• Unlimited vertical space.
• Free movement/panning in all directions.
• No fixed page boundaries.
• Support for handwriting, shapes, images, and other normal Notewise tools.
This would make Notewise much more useful for brainstorming, mind maps, diagrams, and free-form studying.
10. Continuously Expanding Page
Please also add an option for a continuously expanding page with unlimited or dynamically expanding height.
Unlike an infinite canvas, this would remain a normal page with a fixed width but would automatically extend downward as the user continues writing.
For example:
• The user starts with a normal page.
• They write toward the bottom.
• When they approach the bottom edge, the page automatically becomes longer.
• The user can continue writing without manually creating or switching to another page.
This would be particularly useful for:
• Long handwritten lectures.
• Continuous study notes.
• Homework solutions.
• Long-form handwriting.
• Notes where the user does not want to think about page boundaries.
Ideally, this could be offered as an optional page format alongside the existing fixed-size pages.
Final Note
I understand that some of these features may require significant changes to the current architecture, but I believe they would greatly improve Notewise for tablet and S Pen users.
Thank you for considering these suggestions. I really enjoy using Notewise, and I hope some of these ideas can be considered for future updates.
Best regards,
Matthew
